Aston, PA, April 29, 2011, - The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) announced the recipients of the Player, Rookie and Coach of the year, First, Second and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams and individual sportsmanship awards for women's lacrosse.
Gwynedd-Mercy College's Trisha Timony (Sr, Allentown, NJ/Allentown) has been named the 2011 Colonial States Athletic Conference Player of the Year for women's lacrosse. The senior goalkeeper was second in the conference in save percentage and helped the Griffins secure the second overall seed in the CSAC playoffs. Timony recorded one shutout on the year and was second in the conference in saves per game with 12.77.
Erin Janzekovich (Fr., Monroe Twp.,NJ/Monroe Twp) of Gwynedd-Mercy College has been named the 2011 CSAC Rookie of the Year. The freshman steadied the backfield for the Griffins which was third in overall in the conference in goals against and second in shots allowed on goal per game. The freshman helped the Griffins compile a 9-7 overall record and 6-2 conference record.
Gwynedd-Mercy College's Beth Wheeler has been named the 2011 CSAC women's lacrosse coach of the year. In her first year at the helm Coach Wheeler guided the Griffins to a 6-2 CSAC record securing the No. 2 seed in the CSAC playoffs. Gwynedd-Mercy will host a semi-final round on Wednesday May 4 as the Griffins will look towards a conference championship.
