Aston, PA, November 2, 2009 – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced the recipients of the Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year; First, Second and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams and individual sportsmanship awards.
Cabrini College’s Stephanie Recklau (Jr, MH, Holland, PA/Council Rock) was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year. The junior led Cabrini College in kills, attack percentage, solo blocks, block assists and total blocks en route to an undefeated season in CSAC regular season play.
Centenary College’s Jelena Markovic (Fr, S, Brcko, Bosnia/The Economic School) was named the CSAC Volleyball Rookie of the Year. The freshman setter helped Centenary College to a 7-4 conference mark and the No.5 seed in the CSAC playoffs after Centenary missed the postseason last year.
Cabrini College’s Eric Schaefer was named the CSAC Volleyball Coach of the Year. The third year head coach led the Cavaliers to an undefeated record in conference play at 11-0. The Cavaliers won 22 games overall in 2009, matching the program record for victories in a season.
