Bookmark and Share

Aston, Pa. – Neumann College’s Volleyball team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) coaches’ poll. The 2007 conference champions received ten of eleven possible first-place votes for a total of 120 points, finishing 23 points ahead of Cabrini College.

“As a coach, it is such a wonderful feeling to have other coaches that you respect and admire recognize the hard work and dedication that your players have to their sport,” said Knights Head Coach Deana Jespersen. “There are so many talented teams in the CSAC and it is an exciting year for all of us as we begin to compete as part of a new conference. I know this is going to be a competitive season for all of us and I’m looking forward to a good season for all of the teams.”

In 2007, the Knights recorded a Cinderella season, knocking off perennial PAC champions Eastern University in the championship game and notching their first conference championship in program history. The win also marked the first win over the Eagles since 1999.

Cabrini College earned a total of 97 points for a second-place finish. Philadelphia Biblical University was selected third with 86 points.

Gwynedd-Mercy College (85), Baptist Bible College (76), Centenary College (63), Cedar Crest College (61), College of Notre Dame (53), Marywood University (43), Immaculata University (30) and Rosemont College (12) rounded out the voting.

The 2008 CSAC Championship begins with quarterfinal action on Tuesday, November 4th. The CSAC Championship Game is set for Saturday, November 8th at the highest remaining seed.
